Here’s how it used to be.
When big news broke—conflict inside the royal family!—news agencies would assign photographers, videographers and editors to cover the story. There were trains and planes to catch. There were phones, cameras, memory cards and laptops. There was copious amounts of information to record and manage by a crush of professionals. Editors on the ground worked amidst the chaos in a mad rush to upload visual content to picture desks and news sites and wire services as fast as humanly possible, hoping they got everything right.

A 24/7 global picture desk
Our editors are experts in sports, news and entertainment. We operate a centralized global picture desk on a 24/7 basis. This is where the world’s legendary picture and news agencies now rapidly upload all their visual content. The economics of the news industry coupled with a global pandemic had made things difficult for our media organization clients and they sought our help. Our teams stepped up to answer the call. How it works
Teams on the ground upload still photography to the cloud as its being shot. Video follows right behind. When a seismic news story breaks, or a long-planned mega event unfolds, images and video are now uploaded to the cloud via wifi enabled digital cameras. Our global picture desk then edits, captions, and keywords the still images—in real time. Our teams turn all that work around in record time for publication. How fast is record time? Still images are published to our client’s site within three minutes. In that time they are precisely captioned, keyworded and tagged. Videos take a little bit longer. Proper captioning and keywording are absolutely essential to future licensing potential.

Most important to our clients is our speed and precision. News isn’t just blindingly fast, it’s nearly instantaneous. Whenever there’s a big story, accurately captioned visuals have to help tell the story—now. There is absolutely zero margin for error.
